The United Sates recovered the Ryder Cup in Hazeltine, with a clear victory (they led from day one). What will remain for memo- ries is that Friday morning in which Europe went to lunch after losing 4-0 at foursomes. But there’s more. For the true lovers of golf, those that enjoy the game for the game’s sake, two memora- ble clashes remain. Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy gave us one the highlights of the weekend, with the American grabbing the victory only in the last hole. And what about Phil Mickelsol and Sergio Garcia? That there are already those that say that this was the best match in history? Not enough. Talk of the 19 birdies they accomplished? That Garcia managed a round of nine below, and even so just managed to end up tied to Mickey? Better yet, see the match again. Closer to home and on a month in which all eyes are to be focused on the Oceânico Vitoria, stage for the 10th edition of the Portugal Masters, special emphasis goes to an old ac- quaintance of Portuguese sport. Luis Figo, who conquered football pitches the world over, became an enthusiastic golfer. The former star of Barcelona, Real Madrid and the Portuguese national team started playing not too long ago, but can no longer do without his clubs. Stress, also, on Ricardo Santos, who became national professional champion, and for the North teams – Miramar and Oporto – who won all there was to be won on the national clubs’ championship. Good golf. Bom golfe. 6. INTERVIEW www.golfepress.com 6. INTERVIEW wwww.golfepress.com

.7 INTERVIEW www.golfepress.com How and when did golf start for you? The passion for golf started through friends. After I left football I knew a lot of people who played. I decided to try and after a few times I felt a great love for the game. I started playing more often and that’s what brought me to where I am. While you played football, did you never try golf? No. Golf only started after I completed my pro- fessional career. The world’s best football player of 2001, who played in with colours of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter, is now a passionate golfer. He started playing some six years ago, in Madrid, where he lives. He is not considering a professional career, but can’t keep away from the clubs.

Where did it all start? My first teacher was Pedro [Cardoso], a Portuguese who, just like me, lives in Madrid. It was at the Golf Park, a nine holes and pitch & putt academy that I took my first real swings. You have a 10 handicap. What are your goals? More than goals, what I want is to enjoy the game. To spend pleasant days with my friends and, of course, when there is a competition, to try and win it. Of course I want to keep on improving, and lower my handicap, but who doesn’t? You have had the opportunity to play with some great names in golf. I already had the opportunity to play with some profes- sionals, and with some public figures. I have been fortu- nate enough to play the Alfred Dunhill Links Champion- ship, in St Andrews, a number of times, a mix of public figures, actors, sports people and golf professionals. There I have played with great players, like Ricardo San- tos. I regularly play with Sergio Garcia, who’s a friend. In the Pro-Ams I have played, I have had the good for- tune of meeting Paul Lawrie. How was it to play at St Andrews? Fantastic. My first experience at this tournament was with Ricardo Santos, who was finishing a great year on the European Tour, and it was great to play with him, on a course that’s already great.

What do you like the most in golf? Everything. The all ambiance around it. The fact that it’s an extremely challenging game, even when you are playing a round on your own. Every day at the course is different. There are the different clubs, and that un- certainty every time you head for the tee. You can play well with the driver, but the irons and the putter aren’t there. And the next day it could be the opposite. That’s why it is always challenging, especially when you are playing players at the same level as you. Then, there’s the diversity of courses, at which we always find some- thing new, and to which we always have to adapt. You have played through the whole world. Do you have a favorite course? It’s hard to pin point one. Every course I have ever played at has something special. For example, almost all Algarve courses are fantastic. Monte Rei, in Tavra, is excellent. In Spain, the new Moraleja courses are great too. Kingsbarns (Golf Links), in Scotland, and Finca Cortesin, in Spain, bothll fantastic courses. I didn’t play all that much, but these, that I had the opportunity to enjoy, are unique. There are more and more ex football professionals playing golf. I think there always were, especially in northern Europe. England, Sweden, and even the Netherlands. Perhaps we are seeing more southern footballers playing. I think it may be a generational thing, with players having had different experiences, and different interests, that sometimes include golf. Are you thinking of going pro? No. No way. I’m too old for that (laughter).

10. INTERVIEW www.golfepress.com 10. From Football to Golf wwww.golfepress.com In football he won almost everything there was to be won. He was a champion in Spain, first for Barcelona, then for Real Madrid. He was a champion in Italy. He won the Champions League, and the Champions Cup. He missed winning a title with the Portuguese National Team, but he was close, a number of times. The world’s best player in 2001, exchanged the flat grass of the stadiums with the rolling uncertainty of golf courses and he is fascinated. “It is a very competitive game, very challenging and that always affords great comradeship with fellow players,” he told GOLFE. He started in golf through friends, after having put his boots away. He started playing in Madrid, where he lives, and competitive as he is, only after having an ac- ceptable playing skill did he start playing in Portugal. His wife accompanied him at the beginning, but she still prefers equestrian activities. Thus Figo has been playing with friends, both in Portugal and in Spain. Already with a very respectable 10 handicap, he has also taken part in various pro-ams, both on the Euro- pean Tour and the PGA Tour. At St. Andrews, where he played for the first time in 2014, among many stars of the golf world, Figo was the most sought after by the public. The goal, he stresses, isn’t to turn professional. It is to continue to improve and, above all, enjoy every minute he spends golfing.

Com sorte, todo o público estará a puxar por mim e talvez isso me inspire a repetir o êxito”, disse. wwww.golfepress.com s ullivan wants to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Portugal Masters with the defense of his title, and the Britton has thus confirmed his return to the Oceani- co Victoria Golf Course, from October 20th to 23rd. A member of the European team for the Ryder Cup, played at Hazeltine National, the thirty year old player is excited to receive his friends and members of his club – the so called “Sulli’s army”, in the Algarve. “It’ll be nice to return to Portugal to try to properly de- fend the title, especially as I will travel with some seventy members of my club. With luck, the whole gallery will be cheering for me, and that may inspire me to repeat the success,” he said.

.13 SPECIAL REPORT The winning score of 261 was the lowest ever in the history of the Portugal Masters. Sullivan began the last round with a 5 strokes lead, and a final card of 66 in- creased this to 9, with an aggre- gate of 23 under par, and a great conquest for the third win of his European Tour career. “For me, to have won the way I did, with my mother and father watch- ing, with many family and friends there, was simply fabulous,” he said, also referring to the record numbers of spectators, especially over the weekend. Sullivan speaks kindly of one of his favourite European Tour events, because of the course, and be- cause of the relaxed attitude in Portugal, which goes great with his personality.

To have a Tivoli hotel on the course itself is absolutely marvelous, and the mari- na just there is one of the mandatory stops for those who go there on holidays and also want to enjoy some good golf,” he stated. In the last few years I have taken the opportunity to take my family with me, because we are all relaxed, and also because it is a nice course to play . We got low scores, and we have the family afoot. And that’s why I love it,” he assured. Andy Sullivan was the ninth player to win the Portugal Masters, in the nine previous editions. Sulli’s Army

16. RYDER CUP www.golfepress.com 16. T here were no miracles this time. The United States won the 2016 Ryder Cup, conquering a trophy they hadn’t won since 2008, and putting an end to a European domination that had resulted in the three previous editions (2010, 2012 and 2014). Playing at home, in Chaska, Minnesota, the North Amer- ican team went past the 14,5 barrier (15-10) – the nec- essary to insure triumph – when the last three singles’ games were still to be played. After having closed the first two days, where the four- ball and foursomes were played, dedicated to pairs’ matches, with 9,5 against 6,5 for Europe, the United States maintained their superiority on the last day of competition at the Hazeltine course and finished the 41st edition of the Ryder Cup with a 17-11 win. The decisive point was made by Ryan Moore, who had been losing by two points against Lee West- wood, but ended up by beating the Englishman in the last three holes. On Sunday Europe still had a moment of hope, after winning three of the first four singles’ matches, thanks to Swede Henrik Stenson, Belgian Thomas Pieters and Spanish Rafa Cabrera Bello, who placed the European team one point away from the US (10,5-9,5). But this didn’t last long, as the United States then ac- complished triumphs with Rickie Fowler, Brooks Koepka (who beat Englishman Danny Willett by five holes, with N ão houve milagres desta vez. Have Paris We’ll alWays

Andy Sullivan. Team Europe. Rory MclIroy. four still to be played) and Brandt Snedeker, before Phil Mickelson divided a point with Spain’s Sergio Garcia. Moore then attained the 15 points, when he beat West- wood, and assured the 26th US victory, who still man- aged to win two of the last three points, closing the contest with a final score of 17-11. Looking back, to Friday, we understand things started going badly for Europe from the start. With a team with little experience in these tournaments – Darren Clark took six rookies (Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Andy Sullivan, Chris Woods, Danny Willett, Mathew Fitzpatrick and Thomas Pieters) – the North-American victory started being drawn in the very first morning, when they won the foursomes by 4-0. In the afternoon, in the four-ball, Europe still recovered, reducing the score to 5-3..

T he first stage of the European Tour Qualifying School took place in six countries, involving some one thou- sand candidates, including seven young Portuguese. Pre-qualification took place on courses in Germany, Great Britain, Austria, France, Italy and our very own Ribagolfe 1, where 97 youth of 26 countries on four continents sought an opportunity to enter the main European circuit. At the Ribagolfe there were seven Portuguese, but only one, Tiago Cruz, managed to pass to the second stage of the School, which will take place between November 4th and 7th on four courses in Spain, followed by a six round final at the PGA Catalunya. Expectations – and hopes – were huge this year, as to the qualifications of Portuguese for the second stage, but once again it was proven that they lack experience in big competitions. In the first round Gonçalo Pinto was 2nd, João Ramos 8th and Tiago Cruz 31st. But on the second day scores were abysmal, and only Tiago Cruz managed to qualify for the second stage. On the second day he was 49th, then rose to 16th and finished 12th with 284 (72+76+65+71). Young Algarve player João Carlota was 25th, just one stroke from the qualification. He finished with 288 (73+76+70+69). The other Portuguese playing were João Ramos (46th), Tiago Rodrigues (47th), Gonçalo Pinto (67th) and Miguel Gaspar (74th). In this Portuguese qualification, which took place in typical summer weather and on a course in immaculate condition, young Englishman Henry Smart was always in control, le- ding from the very start, finishing with 276 (12 under par). This mini-Open at the Ribagolfe, involving some 150 peo- ple, amongst players, companions and organization by the European Tour, generated good revenue for the region, in hotels, restaurants and rent a car, during a whole week. On the French course of d’Hardelot there was another young Portuguese, Pedro Figueiredo, who didn’t attain the qualification. He was 48th with 290 (73+72+76+69), 6 over par, and six strokes from qualifying for the next stage. Here the winner was American Austin Connelly, with 274. At the end of the School, at the PGA Catalunya, the 25 best placed plus any ties (27 in total) qualify for the 2017 European Tour main “cadre”, in category 15. 20. NatioNal Youth ChampioNships O n a National Youth Championship that attributed six titles in echelons sub -14 to sub -18, it may appear unfair to emphasize one over t he others, but the story and the example of João Maria Pontes, straight from the hospital to the top of the podium in just a year, brought tears to everybody’s eyes for the three days in which the Pederação Portuguesa de Golf (FPG – Portuguese gold federation) promoted the tournament at the Belas Clube de Campo, in Sintra. João Maria Pontes totaled 230 strokes (14 above the par), after rounds of 74, 76 and 80, beating (by three strokes) Gonçalo Teodoro (80+87+75), from the Clube de Golfe de Vilamoura. On the sub -16 girls tournament, Ines Santos also led from the first to the last day, summing 252 strokes, 36 above the par, with rounds of 87, 85 and 80 (this was the best in the tournament). In the girls’ sub -18 tournament Leonor Bessa, with +14, beat Ines Barbosa by a clear 12 strokes (82+86+74), the 2015 sub -16 champion. The boys’ sub -18 was won by the englishman George Oun- stead. António Teixeira led the tournament from the start, but a last round of 81 strokes (74 and 79 on the previous days) forced him into a bitter second place (+18). In sub -14 the talents of Leonor Medeiros and Francisco Matos Coelho were confirmed. Kiko, as he is known, led from day one, and left the nearest competitor, Calvin Holmes, eight strokes behind him. In sub -14 girls, Leonor Medeiros won with an eight stroke advantage over Rita Costa Marques. For the younger echelons, the championship was played at the Centro Nacional de Formação de Golfe, in Jamor, Oei- ras, and Ines Belchior (9), José Maria Gonçalves (10), João Iglesias (11 years old) and Sofia Barroso Sá (12) wore the winners. In sub -10 girls, Ines Belchior bested Maria Isabel Alves by three points. Sub -10 boys, José Maria Gonçalves, from Madeira, beat Tomás Afonso Araujo. Sofia Barroso Sá needed to beat Ana Costa Rodrigues on the play-off, who had already been national sub -10 vice champion one year ago in her own club, the Miramar. In sub -12 boys João Iglesias showed persistence and am- bition when he accomplished a remarkable recovery from 4th to 1st place, overcoming the three points disadvantage with which he had finished the first day, leaving João Teix- eira in second. 20. The ladies’ tournament (the Nini Guedes Queiroz Cup) had only three teams, and it was no great sur- prise that Clube de Golfe de Miramar, based in Vila Nova de Gaia, was the champion for the third con- secutive time. Men’s (Visconde Pereira Machado Cup) was a lot more competitive with sixteen teams playing. The Oporto Golf Club became national champions for the seventh time, and despite being in the favourite’s group, the Espinho club hadn’t won since 2010, and succeeded to four consecutive Vilamoura titles. 26. T here was a deluge of national and international records in the Azores Ladies’ Open, and Susana Ribeiro was responsible for some of them, when she finished the 30 thousand euro prize tournament within the top -10 (the best position ever of a Portu- guese in the tournament), with an aggregate result of 5 strokes above the par (the best result ever of a Por- tuguese player at the event), one day after she attained the best Portuguese round in six editions of the tourna- ment (2 below the par). To help with the success of the most important Portu- guese ladies’ tournament, the only part of the Ladies European Tour Access Series (LETAS), the second Eu- ropean division, there were also some international re- cords. The five strokes below the par of Swede Jenny Haglund were the best result ever of a champion at the Azores Ladies’ Open, and her card for the last day of 64 (-8) is the best result ever for a lady at the Batalha Golf Course, in São Miguel. Susana Ribeiro totalled 221 strokes, 5 above the par, with rounds of 79, 70 and 72, for a prize of 854,25 euro (her 10th place was shared with three other players), which allowed her to enter, for the first time, the top -100 of the Order of merit of this European second divi- sion, climbing from 145th to 90th place. The 6th Azores Ladies’ Open was won by a young prom- ise of world golf, Swede Jenny Haglund, 23 years old, who just turned professional this year and, a few weeks later, won her first LETAS title, at home, in Sweden, at the Norrporten Ladies’ Open. After this she was 2nd at the Ladies’ Norwegian Open, also in August, and today, due to her second trophy, which was worth 4845 euro, went up to the second place in the LETAS ranking (Or- der of Merit), only behind Sarah Schober, the Austrian who finished 7th (+2) at the Azores Ladies’ Open. Jenny Haglund won a huge five stroke advantage over three players tied for second place, with 216 stokes (par), who received 2318 euro each: Hungarian Csilla Rozsa (73+72+71), who was in the lead at the end of the second round, French Astrid de Pradenne (72+74+70) and Dutch Joyce Chong (76+70+70). 28. Equilíbrio de for- i n September Ricardo Santos wonhis second national champion title, repeating his 2011 success at Ribagolfe, and can pride himself on having won in the two editions of the tournament with the strongest fields. The 34 years old Algarve player on the first hole of the play off defeated his friend and rival Tiago Cruz, getting even for the “sudden death” with which he had lost the title two years previously, in Lagos. The Solverde PGA National Championship was sanctioned by the Federação Portuguesa de Golfe (FPG – Portuguese gold federation), and organized by PGA Portugal at the Oporto Golf Club, in Espinho, distributing 12.800 euro in prize money. Besides Ricardo Santos, two other players were crowned national champions: Susana Ribeiro and Joaquim Sequeira (Ladies’ and Seniors)., The best lady player in the tourna- ment was Leonor Bessa, but, because she is still an ama- teur, she can’t get the professional champion title . The three tournaments being played were strongly con- tested to the very end, and were only decided by very small margins. This is true for all players, except for Leonor Bessa, who positively wiped the other competitors aside. Susana Ribeiro PHOTO: RAMiRO de JeSuS wwww.golfepress.com The twice sub-18 national champion summed 148 strokes, 6 over par for the course, after rounds of 73 and 75, and left Susana Ribeiro (79+79) 10 strokes behind and Monia Bernardo (75+84) at 11. But in the end, the title was de- cided between Susana Ribeiro and Monia Bernardo, and there was just one stroke separating them. Amongst the Seniors, it was only a single stroke that at- tributed the title to Joaquim Sequeira, the coach at the Cg Vilamoura, who totalled 158 strokes (80+78), 16 over par, breaking the first round leader elidio Costa (79+80). Seque- ira was national seniors’ champion in 2013, 2015 and 2016. But if the ladies’ and seniors’ titles were decided by one single stroke, the men’s was even less than that, since both Ricardo Santos and Tiago Cruz finished the 54 holes tied with 206 strokes, 7 under par, Santos with rounds of 70, 69 and 70, and Cruz with cards of 64, 73 and 69. Just like in 2014, then at the Onyria Palmares Beach & golf Resort in the Algarve, Ricardo Santos and Tiago Cruz had to decide the title with a playoff. in Lagos, the winner was Cruz. it was the first of his two national champion titles. This play off was conducted on the 17th hole (par 4), both had good drives, and both placed their balls on the green in two strokes, but Cruz’s was farther, he was the first to putt and he missed. Santos was some 5 metres from the hole, one could see his effort to concentrate, he twice completed his putting rou- tine, and then converted the stroke into the victory birdie. ironic, as it was about his putting that he complained most back on the first day. The celebration and the smile didn’t fool anyone. He may be the Portuguese with the best sports curriculum ever, and his priority is clearly the return to the european Tour, but there’s something mythical about being the new national champion.

30. SENIORES www.golfepress.com ASSOCIAÇÃO NACIONAL DE SENIORES DE GOLFE PORTUGAL TOwER OF BELEm A SUCCESS FOR PORTUGAL T he International Portuguese Sebior – Tower of be- lem gathered this year some hundred players from the whole country as well as from a number of oth- er European countries, renewing the ANSGP goal for it – that it becomes a prestigious tournament gathering more and more seniors from Portugal and abroad. “I am very happy with this edition, as we are growing every year, and attaining our goals with this tournament. But we want even more. We want the Tower of Belem to become an annual reference in Portuguese golf, that it receives many foreign players and that it becomes an added value in the promotion of Portugal”, said António Rebelo, president of the ANSGP. “This year we had two excellent days of competition, with good weather and two reference courses, we re- ceived compliments from many foreigners, and this all leads us to continue this work with pride and the certain- ty that we are treading the right path”, added Antonio Rebelo, who also stressed the fact that the gala dinner and prize awarding ceremony took place in the Altis be- lem, a world reference for good ffod and right next to the Tower of Belem. Prizes were awarded to Portuguese players (North, Lisbon and Algarve), as well as from Denmark and the Netherlands. Gross winning team was made out of Car- los Valente, António Guerreiro, José Valente and Carlos Guerreiro. No segundo lugar ficou a Holanda 1 com Berry van der Land, Cris van der Land, Jan Willem Hoving e Pieter Croockewit. .35 SENIORES www.golfepress.com PUB. T he Centre delegation has decided, as an experi- ment, to create two Pitch & Putt tournaments, so as to evaluate how well players react to them, so as to organize a Pitch & Putt circuit for 2017. After opening enrolment for the first tournament (to take place on October 4th at the Capuchos course), it had to be closed within 48 hours, due to there being no more available slots. If you didn’t get there in time, you can still try Pitch & Putt at another tournament, to take place at the same course on October 20th. Pitch & Putt was a success, and thus will likely be on the calendar next year. A Direção da ANSG We are a bit impatient, because we believe that the new FPG management to be elected and resulting from one of two com- peting lists, will bring benefits for the senior echelon in golf, repre- senting some 50 percent of pres- ent players. We have had access to the can- didates’ programmes, and for the first time, and with great satis- faction we have seen them both promising added support for the seniors, which until now has been basically non-existent. We leave an appeal here, for the greater good of golf, and for the senior echelon specifically, that we may know as soon as possi- ble, who will manage this sports of ours, that we so passionately care for. WITH US! No Balaia, no Boavista e no Oceânico Vitória jogamos golfe. Gostei especialmente do hole-in -one que fiz no Balaia, e de ganhar o meu companhei- ro-escritor no Vitória. No Boavista ganhou ele. The next days we felt like a little bit of sport and ad- venture. At the Balaia, the Boavista and the Ocean- ico Vitoria we played golf. I especially liked the hole in one I accomplished at the Balaia, and beating my writer companion at the Vitoria. At the Boavista, it was his turn to win. In the end, I was the one who paid for the beer, and we took the opportunity to en- joy the lively Algarve night. But the Algarve is even more than this. There’s so much to do. My writer is a bit crazy and decided he wanted to do some parasailing. He says he booked another outing for next week. I won’t risk it. I prefer to keep my feet on the ground, or the sea. I booked with Algarve Groups Activities. And there I went, im- agining being a sailor on a yacht, the Atlantis II. We saw the cliffs, we entered the caves in dinghies, and we went back on the boat to get farther from the coast. After the dolphins, and swimming on the high seas, it was time to enjoy a spectacular sunset. Ah, and we also have this thing about discovering the trails on the Algarve hills. There’s always something new, places we haven’t been to. And one of the af- ternoons we went out on bicycles.

Another of the Algarve appeals is walking through cen- turies of traditions: skillfully artisans make pottery, or work in copper or brass using age old methods. And then there’s the linen… But we also have Vilamoura, and that amazing marina, where a morning or evening walk is always so pleasant. We sit on the terraces for dinner, and then move on for an ice cream, or that oh so Portuguese habit – coffee. It’s all set in our minds, especially the scents, the friendships, the heat, and other subtleties that camer- as can’t begin to record. But we’ll be back next year, to write another book, for more pictures, more nature, more landscapes, more sea, more touring, and more golf. We’ll be coming back to the Algarve!

The top 100 golf resorts is a new award whereby the top golf professionals and journalists identify the best qual- ity golf resorts incorporating the golf course and the onsite accommodation offer, as well as other facilities. Jonathan Fletcher-Blandy director of Palheiro Estate says, “This is a fantastic award and is a great result for all our team – from the golf course to the hotel, the lux- ury villas and apartments as well as the spa”. Set within the magnificent Palheiro Estate and lying ad- jacent to the five-star Madeira Island Hotel Casa Velha do Palheiro – a Relais & Châteaux property – the 18-hole, par 72 Championship golf course meanders through a pris- tine environment of maritime pine and botanical wood- land embroidered with lush, sub-tropical vegetation. PUB. One IslAnd, TwO cOUrses PHOTO BY: TIAGO SOUSA al manager. Rodrigo Ulrich, with a vast experience in the industry, says he’s delighted to embrace this pro- ject. “It’s a privilege to be able to work directly with the best,” says Ulrich, praising not only the course, but the whole of the island. Top hotels. Safety. Gorgeous landscapes. Three factors that place the island on the world tourism map, to which Ulrich wants to add a fourth: golf. For this goal, and in a joint effort with Ricardo Abreu, general manager of the Santo da Serra, the other Ma- deiran championship course, the golf passport was cre- ated, allowing visitors to play on both courses at the same price. Weather issues, or just the desire to change fairways, are now a non-issue. The deal is also offered to the internal market, since they also created special packages for groups, with prices of around 25 euro per round. .57 TOPS

I t’s ten years of preparing, of work- ing, of plans A, B, C and D, of expec- tations, of surprises, but especially of emotions. Months of preparations for four days of competition in which we show the world Portugal isn’t just a sun and beach destination, but also that it has the best golf courses, that we are capable of organizing big events, but especially, that we are great at hospitality. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all entities, public and private, involved in the organization and the logistics of the tournament, because its success is only possible due to the co- operation, dedication and efforts of all. Of the public that visits us every year, I ask them to return, to bring their family and friends, their golf partners and the non golfers, because this is a sport that is for all, and there is nothing better than an ample audience to motivate the artists who’ll play at the Victoria Golf course. On a more internal level, I want to give thanks to all the staff. This will be the first of these events without “chief” Stillwell, who was always present from day one, and who will always have a special place in the “heart” of this event. And because life keeps playing tricks on us, the designer of the Victo- ria Golf course, “king” Arnold Palmer, has also left us. Times are changing, new faces are be- coming attached to the Victoria Golf course and the Portugal Masters, and new ideals that will, I believe, improve the event and make it larger in the coming years. Change is also to take place in the leadership of the FPG, with two very worthy candidates, each in his own area. I believe that regardless of who wins, Portuguese golf, as a sport, will be a winner. I would also like to take the opportunity to leave a token of ap- preciation to the outgoing president, and friend, Manuel Agrellos, for all the work and effort of the last decades. Good luck to all Portuguese playing in the Portugal Masters. Greetings. We are on the 10th Portugal Masters golf edition romeu gonçalves Oceânico Victoria Director
